Last week’s column was concluded with the grandchildren of Martha Minerva (Leonard) and husband, Daniel Regan Savage.

Today’s is begun with is the grandchildren of her brother, John Thomas Leonard, who was also the son of Thomas Alfred Leonard, Sr.

John Thomas Leonard, had the following grandchildren: His son, Joseph Frank Leonard, was married to Nellie Ethel Collum, daughter of Robert Lee and Almedia (Starnes) Collum, and they were residing in the Sanford community in 1910 and in Richmond, Georgia, in 1920 and 1930.

They reared the following three children: Russell Lomas, Sr., b. 1914, d. 1997, m. 1941 Florence Edna Barber; and twins, Maude Mercedes, b. 1917, d. 1999, m. 1935 Robert Harding Christian, Sr., and Merle V., b. 1917, d. 2002, m. 1939 Thomas Marion Danforth.

John Thomas Leonard’s son, Grady Bryson Leonard, was married to Nina A. Cooper, daughter of Benjamin Jordan and Ada Rachel (Johnson) Cooper.

They were in Edgecombe, NC, in 1930 and reared one daughter, Pallie Mrgaret, b. 1925, d. 1997.

John Thomas’s next son, Harry Bernard Leonard, Sr., and wife, ? Silvey, daughter of John and Davia Silvey, reared two children: Harry Bernard Jr., b. 1925, d. 1993, m. 1943 June Alison Swedenburg; and unknown child.

John Thomas’s daughter, Freddie Loretta Leonard, was married in 1915 to Clayton Clyde Williamson (1896-1966).

They reared the following children: Wilfred; Eva Mae, b. 1916, d. 1990, m. 1932 Theodore Tindal; Vertie lee, b. 1920, d. 1993, m. 1939 Frazier Oswald; and Samuel C., b. 1925, d. 1980.

John Thomas’s youngest daughter, Lavada Leonard, was married to Joseph Hall, son of John and Elizabeth (Wells) Hall. They had the following children: Annie Ruth, b. 1921, d. 2003; Perry M., b. 1932, d. 1999; and 6 additional living children.

Thomas Alfred’s son, Hosea Harrison Leonard, and his wife, Josephine Minerva Hogg, had the following grandchildren. Their daughter, Effie May Leonard, and husband, George Crumpton Snowden, Sr., son of Chrles Walter and Sally Belle (Lee) Snowden, moved from Andalusia to Dade County, Fla., and reared the following children: George Crumpton Jr., b. 1906, d. 1989; Annie Merle, b. 1908, d. 1970; living child; Jessie Lee, b. 1910, d. 1985; William, b. 1911, d. 1995; George Olon, b. 1913, d. 1988; Max Preston, b. 1915, d. 2010, m. Willarden “Billie” ?; Crumpton Leonard “Jolly,” b. 1918, d. 1989; Mildred, b. 1920, d. 1985; Milliard, b. 1920, d. 1987; Charles Hosea, b. 1922, d. 1997; and Quinnie Mae.

Hosea Harrison’s daughter, Addie Lee Leonard, and husband, Jacob Belin, reared the following children: William Palmer, b.&d. 1907; Emeline M., b. 1908, d. 1998, m. William Malcolm Ebersole; Addie Ruth, b. 1910, d. 1986, m. Howard Nelson Haygood; Martha, b. 1911, d. 1980; Jacob Chapman Sr, b. 1914, d. 2010, Myrtle Fillingim; Cleland Leonard, b. 1917, d. 1011, m. Mary Johnson; and Mary Margaret, b. 1920, d. 1979, m. George Y. Core.

Hosea H.’s daughter, Willie Josephine Leonard, was married to Elijah Houston Lundy, Sr., son of Willis Green and Elizabeth (Stokes) Lundy. They reared the following children: Elijah Houston Jr., b. 1909, d. 1991; Ibbie Ruth, b. 1911, d. 1912; Hosea Willis, b. 1912, d. 1988; Verna Will, b. 1914, d. 2002, m. Clyde Bass; Herman C., b. 1916, d. 1922; Wilson Tate, b. 1918, d. 1962; 2 living children; and Bill.

Hosea H.’s daughter, Maude Pearl Leonard, married Andrew M. Robinson, son of Jesse Berryman and Helen Evelyn (Cox) Robinson. They had the following children: Mary Evelyn, b. 1913, d. 1959, m. Harmon Dow; living child; Jake L., b. 1918, d. 2010; and 4 living children.

Hosea’s son, Hosea Harrison Leonard, Jr., and wife, Nellie Boggess (1902-1972) have one living child. Hosea’s son, Homer Arthur Leonard, Sr., and wife, Clara Bell Leonard, reared the following children: living child, John Hosea, b. 1924, d. 2009; living child; Homer Arthur Jr., b. 1928, d. 1994, m. Thelma “Jeane” Berry Townsend; and living child. Hosea’s daughter, Tinnie Corine Leonard, and husband, Daniel McCaskill (1880-1978), have one living child.

Hosea’s son, Hobson Leonard and wife, Margaret Soar, reared three children: Marion, John Ralph and living child. Hosea’s daughter, Bernice Leonard, and husband, Joe Creary, have two living children.

Hosea’s daughter, Bonice Leonard, and husband, Dewey Columbus Moore (1899-1981), reared three children: Dewey Columbus Jr. “Skeeter,” b. 1925, d. 2009, m. Ada Jean Moore; William H., m. Hilda ?; and Thomas L., m. Carolyn ?. Hosea’s daughter, Anice Leonard, and husband J.C. Phillips have two living children.

Hosea’s son Thomas Alfred Leonard, was married to Mary Elizabeth Geiger, daughter of Marion P. and Winifred A. Geiger.

They reared four children: infant girl; Robert; Alfred; and John, b. 1948, d. 1968.

Stark Starling Leonard, a brother to Hosea Harrison Leonard, had the following grandchildren. His daughter, Arvenia Miller Leonard, and husband, Walter Lanier Nobles, son of William M. and Leona (Adkinson) Nobles, reared the following children: Alcus, b. 1912, d. 1976; Glenn B., b. 1917, d. 2004; Quinton Olan, b. 1917, d. 1996; Lowell Lola, b. 1919, d. 1997; Gary, b. 1922, d. 1997, m. Rachel Wedelle McCollough; Kenneth, b. 1923, d. 2004; and 2 living children.

Stark S.’s second daughter, Nola Lavade Leonard, and first husband, William Charles McKee, had two children, Reba E., b. 1911, d. 2005; and Ralph, b. 1916, d. 1991.

Stark’s daughter, Ella Iowa Leonard, and husband, Murdoch Scot Campbell, had the following children: Ruby Mae, b. 1911, d. 1999; Maurice Daniel, b. 1916, d. 1984; Katie Kathleen, b. 1921, d. 2001; Marguerite Mabian, b. 1924, d. 1989, m. Frank Edward Griffith; and living child.

Stark’s son, Curry Thomas Leonard, and wife, Redie Hart, had four children: Olland Hart, b. 1909, d. 1986; Mary Lucinda “Willie Mae” b. 1914, d. 2003; Billy, b. 1938, d. 1966; and Randolph Hart.

Stark’s son, Charles Floyd Leonard, and wife, Hattie Elvira Broxon, reared the following children: Hazel Jeanette, b. 1928, d. 2004, m. Richard Cad Powers; living child; Jimmie Robert “Bobby,” b. 1931, d. 1999; Berman Franklin “Frankie,” b. 1933, d. 1996; Jewel Maxine, b. 1940, d. 1942; and 3 more living children.

Stark’s daughter, Pearl Leonard, and husband, Charles Curtis Lanton, had three children: Terrell Christopher, b. 1924, d. 2000, m. Hybart Gwendolyn McNeil; Curtis “Billy” Burton, b. 1926, d. 1995; and living child.

Stark’s son, Curtis Leonard, and first wife, Frances Virginia Finklea, had Curtis Bryan Jr., b.&d. 1930; James Edward, b. 1938, d. 2010, m. Peggy Priscilla Koehler; and 3 other living children. Curtis Leonard and his second wife, Argie Lee Mclaney, had one son, Eugene, b. 1926, d. 1984.

Stark S. Leonard’s sister, Jane Leonard, and husband Bud Adams, had a daughter, Sarah Leonard Adams, who married Robert B. Lawrence. They reared the following children: Robert Franklin, b. 1892, d. 1947; Daniel Claude, b. 1894, d. 1910; Audie D. “Babe,” b. 1900, d. 1992; Joel Edmon, b. 1913, d. 1973; Virginia “Jean,” b. 1918, d. 1987, m. Floyd Alvie Roberts; and Claudie G.
