Opp’s Laird, Baker and Blackstock has teamed up with Covenant Community Church in Elba to bring aid to the residents of McDonald Chapel.
The unincorporated community northeast of Pleasant Grove was hit by the April 27 tornado outbreak.
“The Red Cross and the Salvation Army haven’t spent as much time there,” said Laken Laird, daughter of Wesley Laird, founding partner of the law firm.“They are basically on their own for a lot of the recovery.”
Laird said that Covenant Community Church, where she and her family attend church, has partnered with the relief efforts, and the law office is serving as a drop off point through Wednesday.
“We are sending the supplies Thursday,” she said.
Laird said the residents especially need sports drinks, flavor packets for water, fruit juice boxes or small juices, cleaning rags, insect repellent, chapstick, sunscreens and other first-aid supplies.
Those interested in making donations can drop off during business hours from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
