The Andalusia City Board of Education hired Lee Stacks as the Andalusia Middle School band director Monday night.

Stacks comes to AMS from New Brockton, where he taught percussion and led a band program there, ACS superintended Ted Watson said.

“He’s shown that he’s got experience in the field,” Watson said.

Watson said in addition to being the AMS band director, Stacks will help Andalusia High School band director Bennie Shellhouse with band camps and after school productions and practice, to name a few.

“Andalusia High School has been known as a perennial superior band. It’s no secret that Mr. Shellhouse has worked his way into the administrative round,” Watson said. “We’re hoping that we’ve got somebody that can learn and adjust and mentor, and at some time, move into that position.”

Additionally, the board accepted the resignation of Johnny Williams, a building service worker at Andalusia Elementary.
