Local residents needing to mail packages or letters before the holiday weekend should make sure they do so today, unless they live in or frequent Andalusia or Opp.

The U.S. Postal Service is adjusting retail hours of operation for the holiday weekend, with 370 Alabama post offices closed on Saturday. Included in that list are locations in Gantt, Red Level, River Falls, Florala and Wing.

There will be regular mail delivery tomorrow; however, customers are advised to observe the holiday schedule posted on blue collection boxes before depositing their mail.

Only Express Mail will be delivered on Mon., July 4.

Regular mail delivery will resume on Tuesday.

“Customers are reminded that although many post offices will be closed on Sat., July 2, they may conduct postal business in places they frequent in their neighborhoods,” said USPS communication specialist Debra Fetterly.
