Dr. Wesley Pattison has joined the practice at Opp Veterinary Hospital.

Pattison, a University of Kentucky and later Auburn University graduate, has 20-plus years experience as a vet.

Relatively new to the Opp community, Pattison said he was welcomed to his new home with open arms.

“I know it is the expected answer, but the reason I became a vet is because I love animals,” he said. “Truly. There’s no other reason.”

He came to Opp from Boone County, Ky., after OVH owner Dr. Faith Drumheller hired a company to find an additional vet for her practice.

“There were lots who interviewed for the position,” she said. “But, Dr. Pattison, he really stood out.”

Pattison’s even made many new friends since his move to Opp, especially those of the four-legged variety.

“As soon as he got here, he found two dogs that were abandoned by their owners that he adopted,” she said. “He’s a very talented and skilled vet. We’re lucky to have him.”

Pattison said the office sees everything from exotic animals to the normal dogs and cats, and even a few surprises thrown in between.

“Since I’ve been here, I’ve seen everything from an iguana to a chicken,” he said. “The people of Opp and Covington County love their animals. That’s plain to see.”
