RUTH CATHRYN BUCKNER ADAIR

Ruth Cathryn Buckner Adair, 80, of Birmingham, passed away on Tues., July 12, 2011.

She was predeceased in death by her parents, Samantha Smith Buckner and Rupert O. Buckner, and one sister, Eleanor Jeanne Buckner Glasgow.

She was born in Fayette County, Ala., on Aug. 14, 1930 and moved to Birmingham during her teen years. She married her high school sweetheart, Conrad Elbert Adair, on March 30, 1951. They had been married 60 years at the time of her death. They worshipped together with the Vestavia Church of Christ.

Survivors in addition to her spouse include daughters; Linda Adair Kyle (Rick) and Karen Adair Stroud (Joe); her son, Douglas Conrad Adair (Nina); sister Anita Carolyn Ryan; grandchildren, Amy Kyle Stapler (Scott), Emily Kyle, David Kyle (Caylen), Lucy Stroud, Jay Stroud (Jennifer), Mary Cathryn Stroud, Ens. James Adair, Andrew Adair, John Michael Adair and Grace Adair; and great-grandchildren, Eli Stapler, Caroline Stapler, Campbell Stapler and Kaylee Stroud.

The family will receive visitors beginning at 12:30 p.m., Fri., July 15, at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel, followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery.

Her grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.

Robert Harrison, 85, of Brewton, formerly of Andalusia, died Thurs., July 14, 2011, at his home in Brewton.

Funeral services are incomplete and will be announced later by Keahey Funeral Home.

Julia Voncile Patterson, 76, of Red Level, died Wed., July 13, 2011, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Sat., July, 16, at Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. P. J. McClung and the Rev. Dennis Knowles officiating. Interment will follow at Vera Cruz Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Howard Patterson of Red Level; son and daughter-in-law, Johny and Sandra Odom of Red Level; daughters and son-in-law, Shelia Padgett of Andalusia and Shirley and David Hartin of Glennwood; six grandchildren, Lt. Col. Jimmy Mott, David Hartin II, Rory Odom, Jenny Odom, Candace Atkins and Morgan Odom; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Samuel (Barbara) Colvin of Everett, Wash., and Ray (Patsy) Colvin of Red Level.

Pallbearers will be Bernie Bracewell, Jeff Bracewell, James Knowles, Ray Huckabaa, Steve Dowdy and Tommy Myrick.
