ALICE DOWD PITTMAN

Mrs. Alice Dowd Pittman, 96, of LaFayette, died Sun., July 17, 2011, at East Alabama Medical Center.

Funeral services are planned for Thursday, July 21, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in LaFayette. Burial will follow at LaFayette City Cemetery.

She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca (Texal) Powell of Andalusia and Sharon (Rick) Elliott of Lanett; one son, Buddy (Kathy) Pittman of Smith Station; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was born May 1, 1915, in Montgomery. She was a member of LaFayette First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Senior High Sunday School. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the American Ex POW Auxiliary. During World War II, she worked at the Anniston Army Ammunitions Depot.

She was preceded in death by her husband, T. Harold Pittman; siblings, Bessie Perry, Clara Moody, Agnes Williford, Charles Dowd, Madeline Dowd and George Dowd; and granddaughter, Sarah Pittman.

Visitation will be held at the church tonight from 6 to 8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Susan Theus, Scott Powell, Angie Miller Patricia Lauderdale, Alison Lamb, Elizabeth Keeble, Brooke Miles, Brantley Pittman and Brock Pittman.

Honorary pallbearers will be the American Legion Auxiliary.

A special thanks goes to Ann Avery, her friend and attendant.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the LaFayette First United Methodist Church General Fund.

KETURAH WALKER

Keturah Walker of Andalusia passed away Mon., July 18, 2011, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., today, Wed., July 20, at Gantt Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Walker and the Rev. Wayne Sharpe officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairmount Baptist church Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Marshell Walker; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Steve Sharpe and Margaret Foley, all of Andalusia; special niece and nephew, Mary and Dale South of Tuscaloosa; sister, Gladys Hart of Tuscaloosa; sister-in-laws, Loyette Walker of Red Level and Frances Walker of Cantonment, Fla.; brother-in-law, John Mitchell of Saraland; grandchildren, Micheal (Tamara) Bush of Opp, Jonathan (April) Bush, Kim (Dennis) Allred, Jill Sharpe, Tim (Sonya) Walker and Annie (Chris) Long, all of Andalusia; two step-grandchildren, Janna (Eric) Nelson of Mississippi and Matt (Debbie) Cameron of Red Level; great-grandchildren, Hunter Allred, Grayson Bush, Reid Bush, Madalyn Bush, Mallory Bush, Meaghan Walker, Ryan Walker, Layne Vidich, Andrew Vidich, Hailey Nelson, Brianna Nelson and Bryan Cameron.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Walker; her son, Tommy Walker, and her grandson, Charles Boyd Walker.

Serving as pallbearers will be Micheal Bush, Jonathan Bush, Tim Walker, Jerry Scott, Dennis Allred and Ryan Walker.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Allred, Grayson Bush, Andrew Vidich, A.C. Godwin, Coy Williams and Albert “Hoggie” Pitts.

ROBERT HARRISON

Robert Harrison, 85, of Brewton, formerly of Andalusia, passed away Thurs., July 14, 2011, at his residence in Brewton.

Funeral services were held Tues., July 19, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Bond officiating. Burial followed in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Harrison; sons, Edward (Pewee) Harrison, both of Brewton, and Edward Orville (Lisa) Harrison of Abbeville; daughter, Melissa Piland of Brewton; sister, Christina Cooper of Andalusia; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Lisa Price and Wylene Blair, and parents, George Eubie Harrison and Nancy Lee Harrison

Serving as pallbearers were James Piland, Gary Sharpe, Curtis Herncon, Kevin Burkett, Michael Walker and Matt Casey.

GLADYS LORD COOK

Gladys Lord Cook, 88, of Dozier, died Sun., July 17, 2011, in the Andalusia Manor nursing facility.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., today, Wed., July 20, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. P.J. McClung officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery in the Babbie Community. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. today at Foreman Funeral Home.

Survivors include her daughter, Lynda R. Wiggins of Orange Park, Fla.; her son, Roger Wiggins of Auburn; three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
