A Dothan woman is in jail after she allegedly broke into an elderly woman’s Timberlake Court home and was held at bay by neighbors until police could arrive.

Sheriff Dennis Meeks said the homeowner, who was in her 80s, arrived to find someone inside her home and immediately called 911, he said.

“She then instructed the burglar, an Alison Lewis Arrington, to wait for police,” he said. “Neighbors helped the homeowner keep Arrington from leaving the scene.”

Arrington, 37, was arrested and booked into the Covington County Jail on charges of third-degree burglary, third-degree theft of property, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

She is being held on a $26,000 bond.
