Police have arrested the man they believe dropped down through a ceiling and took pocketsful of synthetic marijuana from an Andalusia convenience store Sunday.

Lt. Paul Dean said leads developed during the Andalusia Police Department’s investigation led officers to the Rockhole Bridge Road home of 33-year-old Lester Dorrell Thomasson Jr. Thursday morning.

“When we arrived, we immediately saw items consistent with the evidence seen in the surveillance video,” Dean said. “Shortly after we made contact with Mr. Thomasson, a search warrant was obtained for both his home and his person, which allowed officers to find the tattoo matching the type and location seen on the video.”

Dean said the tattoo appeared to be a child’s name. He said none of the items taken during the burglary were recovered.

Dean said Thomasson is also believed to be responsible for a similar burglary at the One Stop Package Store that occurred during the same time frame. None of the items taken from that location were recovered either, he said.

Thomasson is now facing two counts of third-degree burglary, one count of first-degree theft of property and one count of second-degree theft of property. He is currently being held in the Covington County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
