OCAP receives $14K food grant

Covington County has been awarded more than $14,000 in federal funds under the emergency food and shelter national board program.
Elizabeth Seay, director of the Organized Community Action Program (OCAP), said the $14,025 award will be used to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county; however, only local agencies and non-profits must apply.
Under the terms of the grant, local agencies chosen to receive funds must:
• be a private, voluntary non-profit or unit of government;
• have an accounting system and practice nondiscrimination; and
• have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs.

The deadline for applications to be received is Fri., Sept. 2.
