Three-year-old Brenton “Brent” Pauley, who almost drowned this past weekend at Blue Lake, is at home, healthy and has no complications from the incident, his father reported Tuesday afternoon.

His father, who said his name is Brenton Pauley Sr., said the 3-year-old is “100 percent fine.”

The family’s story of how young Brent was found floating in the lake differed from versions reported to The Star-News earlier this week, but the child’s grandmother, Penelope Cothran, said she’d like to express the thanks to the woman who assisted her family and administered CPR to young Brent.

“I tried to look her up in the phone book,” Cothran said. “She helped save my grandson’s life.”

The child was taken by ambulance to Andalusia Regional Hospital by Advanced EMS, and later air lifted to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. He returned home Tuesday.
