Andalusia City Schools will soon put a new bus on its daily routes.
The board voted to accept the low bid of $72,814 for a 2012 model 72-passenger bus from Southland International, a Birmingham company.
Transportation Director Bob Harry said the last bus the system purchased was in 2008.
“Right now, we have a ’95 bus on the route,” he said. “Out of nine busses, we only have five that count for fleet renewal money. It has taken this long to save enough to purchase a new one.”
Harry said it could take up to 120 days for the bus to be delivered.
