Chief Justice restores jury-trial sessions

Alabama Chief Justice Charles Malone restored the lost jury-trial weeks Wednesday.

Former Chief Justice Sue Bell Cobb issued a reduction in April, which cut jury trial weeks to roughly one per month.

Judge Malone, who was sworn in this week, cited a growing accumulation of cases in criminal and civil courts, and a growing population of defendants detained in local jails pending trials.
