An Andalusia woman is in jail after allegedly stealing her best friend’s debit card and racking up more than $400 in illegal purchases.

Sgt. Cody Warren of the Andalusia Police Department said 31-year-old Jennifer Marie Messick now faces nine felony counts as a result of her alleged actions.

“The sad part is that her friend was in the hospital having surgery when it happened,” he said.

Messick is charged with eight counts of fraudulent use of a debit/credit card and one count of second-degree theft of property. She was booked into the Covington County Jail on a $90,000 bond Tuesday.
