Third place winner

Out of the scores of entries from teenagers throughout Covington County, three have been named as winners of this year’s Andalusia Public Library teen photography contest.

Children’s Librarian Caryl Lee Jackson said submissions were made throughout the summer months and included entries from Andalusia, Opp and all points in between.

“We have some very talented children here, as you can see from the winners,” Jackson said. “Our hope is that next year our contest will feature Springdale, and the submissions will be able to grace the walls for all to see.”

This year’s contest winners will hang in the library, she said.

Third place winner was Ethan Hurst, 14, of Opp. For this cloud photo, Hurst took home a prize of $25.

Second place winner DeAnna Lee said it was very difficult to capture this photo of a chicken. Lee, a 14-year-old from Andalusia, took home a $50 cash prize for her win.

Andalusia’s Emily Townsend, 18, captured this first place photograph during a family wedding. She was awarded $75.
