Two Straughn boys were rescued early Monday morning after being spending hours stuck on the Sepulga River, near Loango.
The teens, who were not identified, had spent the afternoon enjoying the river, but had gotten their boat stuck on the rocks. One boy placed a call to 9-1-1 dispatch at approximately 8 p.m. Sunday. They were located near 3 a.m. Monday about three-fourths mile up Pigeon Creek and returned safely to their parents.
Sheriff Meeks urges all boaters that if you are floating, canoeing or fishing on the rivers and streams in the area to please use caution due to low levels of water, to have flashlights or some type of light, cell phone and other required safety equipment.
