Moody’s passing is loss to community

With the passing of Angela Moody on Sept. 13, 2011, we who had the honor of knowing her and her late husband, Don, felt compelled to share our thoughts with those who did not have the privilege of knowing them.

They were two extraordinary people who gave tirelessly and generously of their time, talents and money to Andalusia City Schools. Their four children – Justin, Allison, Tyler and Haley – are all graduates of Andalusia High School. While their children were in elementary school, Don and Angela were named “PTO Parents of the Year” for the state of Alabama two years in a row. All of us who worked at East Three Notch School will always remember Angela operating the copy machine and gathering classroom snacks. She volunteered to assist every teacher in the school. She was such a presence at E3N that on days she wasn’t there, her absence was even noticed on the daily bulletins. Who can forget Don’s extensive stamp collection and the other lessons he taught the students? Equipment purchased by the Moodys is still in use today.

I was fortunate to know Angela in college. She and I graduated the same day. We often remarked how ironic it was we moved to the same small town and lived across the street from each other.

The contributions of Don and Angela Moody to our schools will not be seen again. We shall always remember how they blessed the students, faculty and staff.
