The Bay Minette police chief has been declared “the worst person in the world” by national TV host Keith Olbermann for his church-based alternative sentencing plan.

Police Chief Michael Rowland came under fire from Olbermann on his “Countdown with Keith Olbermann.”

Olbermann noted that those sentenced for misdemeanor crimes can go to jail and pay a fine or go to church for a year on Sundays. He also said that there are no mosques or synagogues in the area.

Under the program, pastors would report weekly to the chief and offenders in the program would bring a signed sheet to prove they attended church.
