Storms bring minor damage

Wednesday’s weather system scattered minor straight-line wind damage and dumped nearly two inches of rainfall in parts of the county.

Beginning around 7:30 a.m., a line of severe thunderstorms moved through the area, bringing wind gusts and hail.

Susan Harris, county emergency management agency director, said no damage was officially reported to the EMA office; however, she had gotten word of some minor damage around the Hester Store Community.

“Luckily, we were never under a tornado warning,” Harris said. “After the straight-line winds, the biggest thing we had to worry about was the flash flooding. We did have a lot of water on the roads.”

Harris said there is a slight chance of rain today, but it will remain clear toward the weekend.
