Church program doesn’t use school resources

To the editor,

I am writing this letter in response to the letter published 10/19/2011 in the Andalusia Star-News titled “Why are religious groups in the schools?” Mrs. Kimbro needs to do some investigating before she speaks. Camp Victory does park out in front of the school in public parking places, however, they do not use the school’s electricity; they use a generator that they provide. This program is offered to the students, but a permission slip has to be signed by a legal guardian for a child to participate. This does not take place in the school but a seperate building. Not one teacher is involved; it is all volunteers. My child reads his Bible at home, and time release is just a way for him to share with others. While everyone’s opinion has value, an uninformed opinion should not be the basis for a change in the way our school children spend their free time.
