A movie filed in Alabama opens in limited theaters today, Fri., Oct. 28.

Anyone who’s spent time in the Mobile area, will recognize some of the scenes in “October Baby,” which was filmed in the downtown Mobile and Dauphin Island areas, as well as on the campus of Samford University in Birmingham.

Brothers Jon and Andy Erwin, Birmingham area natives, co-wrote, co-produced and co-directed the film, which is the story of college freshman Hannah, played by Dothan native Rachel Hendrix.

According to information provided by the production company, “Hannah has always felt like an outsider. Something is missing. She has always carried a deep seeded sense that she has no right to exist. When she discovers she was adopted it comes as a shock, but Hannah’s world is rocked even more when she learns why she was never told before — because she was the survivor of a failed abortion.”

The cast includes well-known actors John Schneider and Jasmine Guy.

The film is presented by Provident Films, a Christian-oriented subdivision of Sony Music Entertainment, and the American Family Association.

The Erwins are developing plans for a nationwide release in spring 2012, but the limited opening sites include the Rave Festival Plaza 16 in Montgomery.
