PowerSouth and Andalusia Regional Hospital worked in a collaborative effort to offer the company’s annual employee health fair Oct. 18-19 at its Andalusia headquarters location for all headquarters and Central Generation employees.

The health fair focused on the health needs of employees with a variety of exams including vision and hearing screenings, blood pressure checks and a complete blood count (CBC bloodwork).

Age-related screenings like PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) for men over age 40 were also conducted.

“Many of us know the importance of an annual health exam, and our annual health fair is a great way for our employees to have a variety of screenings they need at one place and time,” said Buddy Manring, PowerSouth safety manager. “The health fair gives employees the opportunity to focus on their individual health care needs with free screenings and information on wellness.”

Seasonal flu shots were also administered for employees during the Health Fair.

“Each year we encourage employees to take advantage of this opportunity, and the response has always been positive,” said Manring. “The full cycle of screenings gives an employee a beneficial amount of information that he or she can use to establish a health plan.”

The fair was optional and free for all PowerSouth employees. A total of 266 employees attended.
