Andalusia’s PeeWee Bulldogs football team will play East Brewton in the Super Bowl Championship this Saturday in Greenville.
The Bulldogs beat Opp 26-6 last Saturday to win the East Division Championship to advance to the championship round.
Alabama linebacker and former Andalusia stand out Nico Johnson was at the game to support the team in its victory.
“The team was inspired by Nico Johnson’s presence on the sideline, and I am proud of the young me,” PeeWee coach Casey Jones said.
Andalusia’s first offensive possession, which was led by quarterback Grant Holley, was a 73-yard drive that was capped off by a 1-yard touchdown run by Jamal Hourel. Kendrick Brown scored the extra point.
Hourel finished the night with three touchdowns, scoring from within the 5-yard line.
Andalusia led 14-0 at half time after Hourel’s second touchdown from 3 yards, and Kyson Ward’s extra point pass reception.
B.J. Anderson ended Andalusia’s first scoring drive in the second half, where the Bulldogs ate up much of the clock, to score from 10 yards.
Opp got on board in the fourth quarter on a touchdown pass.
Hourel then scored his third touchdown from 3 yards for Andalusia, and the Bulldogs took their game-ending lead of 26-6.
