EDWARD H. BROGDEN, JR.

Edward H. Brogden, Jr., age 85, of Montgomery, died Wed., Nov. 2, 2011, at his son’s residence. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Sat., Nov. 5, 2011 at Able Cemetery with Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Brogden was the former District Attorney for Covington County, and retired after 28 years from the legal department of the Alabama Department of Transportation.

He is survived by his daughter, Shona Brogden-Stirbl and husband, Robert C. Stirbl of Pasadena, Calif.; two sons, Wilburn C Brogden and his wife Cathy Brogden of Montgomery, and Edward Brogden of Berkeley, Calif.; three grandchildren, John David Brogden, Christina Brogden, and Diana Brogden; sisters, Betty Baldwin and Mary Sue Brown of Andalusia.

Pallbearers will be Robert Stirbl, Donnie Sharpe, Wilburn C. Brogden, Joe B. Brogden, Phillip Brogden, and Alan Brown.

Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Foreman’s.

EVELYN OWENS

Evelyn Owens, 87, of Andalusia, passed away Wed., Nov. 2, 2011, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Fri., Nov. 4, 2011, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Ganus officiating. Special music will be provided by Saqlynn Mullen and Nadia Owens. Burial will follow in Carolina Baptist Church cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, H. B. and Melissa Owens Jr. of Phenix City, Boyd Owens of Grand Bay, Ala., and Gary and Mae Owens of Phenix City; daughter, Barbara Faye Dozier of Andalusia; daughter-in-law, Debbie Owens; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; Blake Owens, Mawmaw’s little man; many nieces and nephews; and a great-granddaughter reared as her own, Dashay Owens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H. B. Owens Sr.; a son, Chris Owens; and her brothers, Ely Aughtman, Harvey Aughtman, Leaman Aughtman, and Lee Aughtman; and sisters, Lela Mae Butler and Bertha Riley.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Owens, Michael Owens, Chad Owens, Jerry Owens, Donnie Owens and Brian Owens.

 

BOBBY KENDALL GLISSON

Bobby Kendall Glisson, 74, of Andalusia, died Nov. 1, 2011, in an Andalusia hospital.

The Andalusia native was born Oct. 3, 1937. He was a long-time resident of Mobile, and leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Debbie Glisson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Flossie Glisson; three brothers, Kenneth, Ottis and Roger Glisson; and one sister, Connie Goodson.

He is survived by his brothers, Anthony (Mickey) Glisson and Wendell Glisson, both of Andalusia; three sisters, Joyce (Leonard) Nataro of Niceville, Fla., Gwynetta Glisson of Auburndale, Fla., and Jackie (Marvin) Hustad of Tucson, Ariz.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at noon today, Fri., Nov. 4, at Gilmer Funeral Home in Mobile.

 

PATSY EARL THREATT HESTER

Patsy Earl Threatt Hester, 72, originally of Andalusia, passed away Wed., Nov. 2, in a Mobile hospital.

Funeral services will be held Sun., Nov. 6, at 2 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Serenity Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sat., Nov. 5, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Hester of Mobile; three daughters, Gigi (Bobby) Riddinghouse, Jennifer Cochran and Brandy Banos, all of Mobile; two sons, Tommy (Kathy) Hester of Bowie, Texas, and Chad (Jessica) Hester of St. Louis; a brother, Billy Threatt of Andalusia; a brother-in-law, Don (Sharlene) Hester of Mobile; and one sister-in-law, Florell Bates of Andalusia; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
