Comedian draws large crowd

When the booking agent for Friday night’s Covington Arts Council performance heard that comedian Henry Cho would be competing with four local high school playoff games, he offered to change the date.

Paula Harr, executive director of the arts council, de-clined.

“I told him I had too much advertising already out there,” she said.

Despite the competing attractions, the show was very well attended, she said, estimating that the auditorium at LBWCC was half full.

She said Cho was very funny and was great with the crowd.

“He uses a lot of responses from the audience,” she said. “He’s quick-witted. He’s a lot like Bill Cosby and Bob Newhart. He just takes everyday life and makes it very funny.”

The Covington Arts Council’s 2011 season will continue with “Queen of Bingo” in January and the “Legends of Motown” in March. A Missoula Children’s Theatre production is planned for spring.
