Covington County United Fund is a little behind on its collections for the year, UF chairman Wem Mellown said Friday.

Thus far, $45,000 of the $13-0,000 goal has been collected.

“We really need everyone to turn in their donations,” Mellown said.

Money raised goes to help 20 local agencies, and Mellown said he hoped to have the fundraising completed by the first or second week of December.

This year, the money will go to support the local chapter of American Red Cross, IMPACT of Covington County, Boy Scouts, Andalusia Ministerial Association, Girl Scouts, Covington County Adult Training Center, Covington County 4-H Clubs, Opp Meals on Wheels, Andalusia, Covington County and Opp youth sports, SAFE of Covington County, Andalusia Community Christmas, local libraries, Opportunity House, Crossover Ministries, Governor’s Committee on Persons with Disabilities, Sav-A-Life and Beyond Measure Ministries.

Those interested in donating to United Fund may make checks payable to Covington County United Fund, and mail them to P.O. Box 1791, Andalusia, AL 36420.
