AHS teams finish 3rd; Tigers 6th

Andalusia’s boys and girls basketball teams netted a third place finish, and Red Level finished sixth at the Enterprise Thanksgiving Tournament on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs beat Dothan 52-45, and the girls won 50-46 over Robert E. Lee. RLS fell to Charles Henderson 54-52.
AHS’ teams improve to 3-2 on the season, and will play host to Monroeville Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Red Level falls to 2-2 on the season, and will head back to Enterprise to take on the Wildcats, also on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Andalusia boys 52, Dothan boys 45
Andalusia’s Sam Byrd led the Bulldogs with 26 points, and Jacard Townsend chipped in 12 points.
“Until we get our ball handling better, we’re going to see pressure,” AHS boys basketball coach Richard Robertson said. “We practiced (Tuesday morning), and worked hard on what we were going to do.
“We came over here and did a pretty good job of doing it,” he said. “It was a matter of staying focused.”
Andalusia girls 50, Robert E. Lee girls 46
Alexis Horton had 24 points, and Shi’Amber Townsend added 17 points. Alison Daniels had seven points.
AHS girls basketball coach Bennie Shellhouse said his girls put forth a solid “defensive game.”
“The whole tournament gave us an opportunity to have a good look at good talent, and for us to play against good talent,” Shellhouse said.

RLS boys 52
The Trojans got off to a hot start, going on an 8-0 run in the first period, and never gave up the lead the rest of the way.
CHHS led 17-13 after the first period, 32-29 at half time and 50-42 after the third.
Troy Nolen led the Tigers with 16 points, and James Feagin had 13 points. KJ Lawrence chipped in 12 points, and Tim Sims had nine.
“We finally calmed down and played good defense and started taking care of the basketball better,” RLS coach Allen Catrett said after the 8-0 CHHS run. “We had twoo many turnovers, but we played hard the whole game.”
