An Opp man was seriously injured after being ejected from his van Tuesday night.

Officials with the Opp Police Department said they believe Ray Winston Scarborough, 65, had leaned over in his vehicle just prior to the wreck where his 1992 GMS Safari ran off the road, flipped and hit a power pole on Hwy. 52 just east of the Hwy. 331 Bypass.

Scarborough was airlifted from Channel-Lee Stadium to Dothan’s Flowers Hospital immediately following the accident due to the severity of his injuries, officials said.

OPD was assisted by Opportunity EMS and the Covington County Sheriff’s Department.

The accident is still under investigation.
