A two-vehicle accident critically injured an Andalusia couple and a McKenzie woman Monday.

An Alabama State Trooper spokesman said the accident occurred at 11:25 a.m. on Alabama Hwy. 55 in McKenzie, just over the Covington County line, involving a 1999 Chevrolet and a 2000 Lexus.

It is believed the Chevrolet, driven by 73-year-old Minnie Lou Browder of McKenzie, pulled out into the path of the Lexus, which was northbound and driven by Alan M. Cory of Andalusia.

Browder was injured and air-lifted to Flowers Hospital in Dothan.

The trooper spokesman said Cory was critically injured and air-lifted from the scene to Baptist South in Montgomery. Family friends said Tuesday that Cory was placed in a medically induced coma and suffered life-threatening injuries; however, it is believed he will make a full recovery.

Cory’s wife, Marion, was a passenger in the car. She was transported to Andalusia Regional Hospital and later air-lifted to Flowers Hospital in Dothan also.

Both women are expected to make a full recovery.

The accident remains under investigation, the trooper spokesman said.
