Straughn High School Band members and boosters will continue their gift wrapping and Santa pictures today in the Covington Mall, from 9 a.m. until noon and 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.

Cost is $5 for a printed photo, and presents are wrapped for donations.

• Through a partnership between Walmart and the Andalusia Christian Service Center, a non-perishable food drive will be held at Walmart through Fri., Dec. 23, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

• St. Mary’s Episcopal Church will hold the annual Jo’s Community Dinner on Christmas Day for those who need a meal.

The meal will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Organizer Jan Morris said meals will be available for dine-in, carry out or delivery.

“We just ask that if we need to deliver, that you give us a day’s notice,” she said.

• Still looking for a furry friend for Christmas?

The Andalusia Animal Shelter is holding its adopt-a-thon, “Home for the Holidays” event today and officials are waiving the adoption fee.

Christin Ball, shelter manager, said there are a variety of different dogs and a couple of cats from which to choose, including small, toy dogs up to large ones.

However individuals still have to pay to get the animal spayed or neutered.

“That costs $35 the day of the adoption and $30 the day of the surgery.”

The adopt-a-thon will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. Friday.
