Collections for this year’s United Fund campaign are currently $50,000 short of goal, which may force proration, if the goal is not collected.
UF chairman Wem Mellown said Wednesday that thus far, the non-profit organization has only collected $80,000 of the $130,000 goal.
The campaign kicked off at the end of September.
“We’re still asking for donations,” he said. “If we don’t meet our goal, we’ll probably have to enter the first quarter giving out prorated checks to the organizations.”
Money raised through United Fund goes to help 20 local agencies and benefits many local residents throughout the year.
This year, the money will go to support the local chapter of American Red Cross, IMPACT of Covington County, Boy Scouts, Andalusia Ministerial Association, Girl Scouts, Covington County Adult Training Center, Covington County 4-H Clubs, Opp Meals on Wheels, Andalusia, Covington County and Opp youth sports, SAFE of Covington County, Andalusia Community Christmas, local libraries, Opportunity House, Crossover Ministries, Governor’s Committee on Persons with Disabilities, Sav-A-Life and Beyond Measure Ministries.
Those interested in donating to United Fund may make checks payable to Covington County United Fund, and mail them to P.O. Box 1791, Andalusia, AL 36420.
