JOHNNY WAYNE POWELL

Johnny Wayne Powell, 43, of Andalusia, died Sun., Dec. 25, 2011, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wed., Dec. 28, at the Carolina Baptist Church with the Rev. Matt Brady and the Rev. Paul Little officiating. Burial will follow in Carolina Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 tonight, Tues., Dec. 27, at Foreman Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Kristi Godwin Powell of Andalusia; his sons and daughter-in-law, Jard and Hannah Powell of Opp and Kaleb Powell of Andalusia; parents, Harold and Eva Nell Powell; brothers and sister-in-law, Eugene and Leigh Powell and Donny Powell; sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and David Morris; maternal grandmother, Eva Rae Norris; in-laws, Bill and Judy Godwin; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Steve and Debbie Godwin and John and Gabrielle Baldwin; maternal grandmother-in-law, Johnnye Vise; four nephews, Garrett Powell, Ethan Powell, Joshua Godwin and Hunter Baldwin; nieces, Haydn Powell, Chelsea Powell, Erin Morris, Katie Morris, Taylor Godwin, Cassidy Godwin and River Baldwin; close friends, Gary and Cathy Alexander and their children, Mitchell Alexander and Edie Alexander, as well as a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Johnny’s love of the Lord was evident in his support of the Gideons International organization, which prints and distributes God’s word. He also served his Lord by participating in church mission trips. To continue his desire of reaching others for the Lord, Johnny asked that donations be made to Gideons Living Memorial Bible plan or to the mission trip fund at Carolina Baptist Church so that others may serve in his place.

GLINDA ELMORE ROBBINS BEASLEY

Glinda Elmore Robbins Beasley, 65, of Andalusia, died Sun., Dec. 25, 2011, at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wed., Dec. 28, at the Judson Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall Bradley, the Rev. Hank Roberts and the Rev. Merrill Davis officiating, with interment in Judson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at Foreman Funeral Home and at the church 30 minutes prior to services.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Beasley of Andalusia; her son Christopher Robbins, of Oxford; her grandchildren, Ryley Robbins and Kendal Robbins; her brother and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Margie Elmore, Jacob Elmore, Willie Ray and Judy Elmore and Harold and Ferrolyn Elmore; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye and Glen Sightler, Barbara and Don Bradley, Gloria and Eddie Cannon, Charlotte and Gary Smith and Elaine and Gordon Bulger; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Heath Bulger, Clay Elmore, Gary Bradley, Zachary Roberts, Isaac Bradley and Danny Vines.

Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews and grandnephews.

Janie Ladner Barnett

Janie Ladner Barnett, age 61, of Andalusia, died Wed., Dec. 21, 2011, in a Dothan hospital.

Funeral services were held on Mon., Dec. 26, at Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Breedlove officiating. Interment followed at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

She is survived by her parents, Chester T. and Geraldine Ladner of Andalusia; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert T. and Beverly Ladner of Crestview, Fla.,; one niece, one nephew, one great-niece, and two great-nephews.

 

Dorothy Ann ‘Miss Dot’ Atchison

Dorothy Ann “Miss Dot” Atchison, 68, of Chestnut St., Andalusia, died Thurs., Dec. 22, 2011, in an Evergreen nursing facility.

Funeral services were held on Sat., Dec. 24, 2011, at Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Griffin and the Rev. Andy Peavy officiating. Interment followed at Adellum Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Brenda Sue Anderson.

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, visits and gifts of food. A special thanks to Northside Baptist Church of Andalusia, Bower Memorial Baptist Church of Evergreen, EMC Hospice, Dr. Mark Roberts and staff, Evergreen Nursing Home, Amy Ellis, Chaplain Andy Peavy and Kerry Davis – God bless you.

Mrs. Atchison is survived by three daughters, Debbie (Darrel) Pemberton of Evergreen, Teresa (Bobby) Steele of Red Level, and Susan (David) Brooks of Troy; three sons, Ronald Anderson of Andalusia, Leroy Denny of Jasper and Darrell (Melinda) Denny of Andalusia; her mother, Dedie Davis of Evergreen; eight grandsons, eight granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; three sisters, Juanita Parker of Holly Hill, S.C., Alma Agner of Pinetta, Fla., and Nonia Campbell of Milledgeville, Ga.; one brother, David Hammond of Florida; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Nolan Denny, Ronnie Anderson, Savage Hollaway, Cayman Steele, Dewayne Ammons, Hunter Pemberton, Jonathan Hicks and Adam Byrd.
