Business owners in Andalusia will get an additional six weeks to renew their annual city business licenses.

For the first time, the city has contracted with Revenue Discovery Systems, or RDS, the same company that is used to collect the city’s sales, use, rental and lodging taxes, and due to the changes, this year’s renewals will not be mailed until the middle of January.

“Usually, the license is delinquent on Feb. 1,” said city employee Kathy Ammons on Wednesday. “Now, because of all the changes, they won’t be delinquent until March 1.”

Ammons said RDS employees are finalizing the city’s files and should begin mailing notices on Jan. 16.

“Just to avoid any confusion, we’re going to allow six extra weeks to get the licenses paid,” she said.

Those using RDS to pay their current taxes can use the same online procedure to renew their business licenses.
