AHS boys, girls sweep Headland

Andalusia’s Jacard Townsend had a double-double to help lead the Bulldogs to a 71-44 area rout over Headland on Friday night.

The Bulldogs led 17-8 after the first period, 32-15 at half time and 51-32 at the end of the third period.

Townsend had 20 points and 13 rebounds for AHS, and this victory comes on the heel of a 52-42 area loss to rival Straughn earlier in the week.

Andalusia now sits at 12-8 overall, and 1-1 in Class 4A, Area 3.

Joe Flowers had 15 points, and Sam Byrd added 13 points for the Bulldogs in the win.

Headland’s Dexter Marsh led the Rams with 11 points.

Andalusia’s Alexis Horton led the Lady Bulldogs with 16 points and 10 steals for a double-double. She also had eight assists for the No. 10 Lady Bulldogs.

Shi’Amber Townsend had 11 points and eight rebounds, and Tyleshia Malcolm had eight points and led in rebounds with 13.

Andalusia will host Ashford on Tuesday night to continue its area play.
