SHS girls win, boys lose at Ashford

Straughn’s boys and girls split in area action at Ashford on Friday night.

The Lady Tigers beat the Lady Yellow Jackets 46-41 with the help of Brittany Driver’s 20 points, and Jacie Williamson’s 11 points.

SHS trailed 23-22 at half time, and outscored Ashford 14-4 in the third period.

The Lady Tigers improve to 13-2 overall, and 1-1 in Class 4A, Area 3.

In the boys’ game, the Yellow Jackets got a 70-47 win over the Tigers.

D. Gooden had 23 points, and R. Alvardo had 17 points for Headland.

Hobie Hughes had 15 points, and William Worley had eight points for Straughn.

The Tigers fall to 5-8 overall, and 1-1 in the area.

Straughn will visit Brantley today in a regular season contest. Tip off for the B-team is a 3 p.m.
