1st 5K Cancer Freeze is Feb. 4

The first 5K Cancer Freeze at Lake Jackson in Florala will be held Sat., Feb. 4, and those that are interested in participating can do so by filling out an application at www.cancerfreeze5k.com.
Additionally, anyone can register for the 5K or water event at www.active.com.
The cancer freeze is held to create an awareness about cancer and to raise funds to benefit a person who is battling cancer.
Participants donate a minimum of $20 to water-ski, wakeboard, kneeboard or tube in the cold waters of Lake Jackson.
Boats and equipment will be provided. Participants can bring their own equipment to the event.
The following is a list of scheduled events for this year’s cancer freeze:
• 10 a.m. – Cancer Freeze 5K Walk/Run
• 11 a.m. – Chili cookoff voting begins
• Noon – Watersports begin (skiing, wakeboarding and tubing)
• 3 p.m – Silent auction closes
Raffle prizes will be given out throughout the day!
The recipients for this year’s benefit are Cooper Sasser, Ayla Powers and Michael Harrison.
