Residents who may be having a hard time getting by and are in need of a hot meal, can mark Jan. 21 on their calendars.

Beyond Measure Ministries, a local outreach ministry, will offer hot soup to needy families in the county that day.

The meals can be picked up at Southside Baptist Church from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

“This is a part of an ongoing effort to assist families who are in need,” said organizer Amber Holley. “Beyond Measure began feeding needy families four years ago on Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter but the members have always understood the need for food is a year-round dilemma for some families. This is why BMM is now reaching out at different times throughout the year.

“We will continue to serve our regular Easter meals, but there are other groups in the area that serve needy families on Thanksgiving and Christmas, and they do a fantastic job,” she said. “We realize that people need food all throughout the year and this is part of our effort to help. We are organizing several other meals throughout the year, as well, and invite all of the residents of Covington County to help.”

Holley said volunteers money and prayers are needed.
