JIM ODOM

Jim Odom, 80, of Andalusia, died Tues., Jan. 10, 2012, in Andalusia.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Fri., Jan. 13, from Foreman funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be tonight at 5:30 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Odom of Andalusia; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve (Susan) Odom and Jason (Cassy) Odom; daughters and sons-in-law, Susanne (Earl) Alsobrook, all of Andalusia, and Renee (David) Wells of Red Level; eight grandchildren, Bridgette (Trace) Forsyth, Blake Odom, Emily (Lee) Williams, Heather Williford, Morgan (Julie) Wells, John Wells, Kyleigh Odom and Ashtynn Odom; one great-grandchild, Hudson Forsyth; and one brother, Jack Odom of Andalusia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Lizzie Odom; infant daughter, Stephanie Genell Odom; brothers, James Henry Odom, Herman “Jay Bird” Odom, Vernon Odom and the Rev. Buster Odom; and sisters, Birdie May Newby, Myrtice Phillips, Ruby Owens and Voncille Odom.

 

EVELYN BLANKENHORN

Evelyn Blankenhorn, 91, passed away on Jan. 9, 2012.

Graveside services were held on Wed., Jan. 11, at 1 p.m., in Parkhill Cemetery with the Rev. Nelson A. Kittle officiating and Striffler-Hamby Mortuary of Columbus, Ga., directing.

Mrs. Blankenhorn was born on Sept. 12, 1920, to the late Grady B. and Irene Adams in Antioch. She was a devoted wife of many years to the Rev. Warren A. Blankenhorn, associate Pastor of United Church of Christ. She was a loving and caring person, especially to all of her family. She will be missed dearly.

Mrs. Blankenhorn was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Warren A. Blankenhorn.

Survivors include her two daughters, Peggy (Mark) McElreath and Lynn Maughon, both of Columbus, Ga.; four grandchildren, Valerie, Fletcher and Henry McElreath and Mein May; and three great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank VistaCare Hospice of Russell County, Ga., especially Nita, Pam, Jessica and Joy, for their care and support during this difficult time.
