The Andalusia City Council Tuesday agreed to abate two pieces of property, and accepted a low bid for work to be done on nine pieces of property already in abatement.

The council agreed to abate properties it deemed to be public nuisances, including:

• a house and trailer off Weant Street.

• 605 East Three Notch St.

The council also accepted the low bid of $29,000 from C&H Construction Co., LLC for work to be done on nine properties the council previously abated. The property owners will be assessed for the work, and liens will be placed on the properties which would prevent them from selling the property unless they pay the costs of the work.

Those included:

• 1103 Henderson St., condemned in 2010.

• 500 Auburn Ave., also condemned in 2010.

There were seven other properties for which owners signed agreements with the city to have work done. They were:

• 912 Anders Dr.

• 210 Lori Lane

• 218 N. Cotton

• 918 S. 3 Notch

• 302 Fegan

• 501 Brewton St.

• 501 N. Cotton

In other business, the council:

• Approved an application for a retail beer and retail wine license for BP Food Mart, 421 S. Three Notch St.
