ORA HESTER

Ora Hester, 91, of the Sanford Community, passed away Tues., Jan. 24, 2012, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thurs., Jan. 26, at New Providence Baptist Church in Paul with the Rev. Tommy Green officiating and burial following in the church cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Visitation is tonight from 6 to 8 at Keahey Funeral Home.

Survivors include her three sons and daughters-in-law, Buddy and Dorothy Hester of Opp, Willis and Mary Jo Hester of Andalusia and David and Paula Hester; three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Cherry of Dothan, Gloria and Buddy Shiver of Andalusia and Karen and Donnie Hester; one sister and brother-in-law, Melba Jean and Bill Lambeth of Brewton; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Hester; a son-in-law, Garvin Langley; two brothers, Milton Pate and U. L. Pate; and a sister, Kathleen Hester.

 

FRANCES ELIZABETH COUGHENOUR

Frances Elizabeth Coughenour, born Aug. 31, 1919, in Montgomery, died on Jan. 22, 2012, at Andalusia Manor. She was 92.

Graveside services were held on Tues., Jan. 24, at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery, with Elder Greg Smith officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing.

One of three children, Coughenour was preceded in death by her parents, Orin and Lois Coughenour, and her two older brothers, Orin Jr. and Howard. She is survived by numerous extended family members and friends.

Coughenour worked for 30 years as secretary in the Judge Advocate General’s office at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery. Upon retirement, she moved to Andalusia in 1975 and served as office manager for the Covington Schools Federal Credit Union for 23 years until her second retirement in 1998.

She was an avid dog lover and attended Union Primitive Baptist Church.

CLEO KIRKLAND

Cleo Kirkland of Andalusia passed away Mon., Jan. 23, 2012, in an Opelika hospital.
