Jamey DuBose, an Opp native who led the Prattville Lions to the Class 6A state title two months ago, is “expected” to accept the head coaching position at Florence High School, according to The Montgomery Advertiser.

The Advertiser’s online article said that DuBose met with his players and coaches on Friday to inform them of his decision to leave.

PHS principal Richard Dennis said in the article that he didn’t have a formal letter of resignation on his person, but “it looks like that’s what’s going to happen.”

The Lions accumulated a 45-10 record under DuBose the last four seasons, including the 35-34 win over Hoover on Dec. 2 in the state title game.

Additionally, DuBose was the coach of the Lions’ 2008 championship team that beat Hoover 16-13.
