Red Level trailed 27-21 at half time to Florala, but the Tigers outscored the Wildcats 40-18 to walk away with a 61-45 win on Monday night at FHS.

“I was real proud of my kids in the first half, taking the lead at 27-21,” FHS coach Daniel Allison said. “We played very good defense. The shots didn’t fall for us in the third period.”

For RLS coach Allen Catrett, FHS just played a better game in the first half, noting the difference in the second half for his team was how the boys came to play.

“Florala made shots, and they outplayed us in that first half,” Catrett said. “They had a real good game plan, and they executed.

“The main difference in the second half was that we came out and played with intensity,” he said. “Our offense fed off of our defense, and it always helps when you start making shots.”

KJ Lawrence led RLS with 22 points, and Troy Nolen chipped in 16 points.

Florala’s Erik Vega had 12 points, and Colt Jackson had 11 points.

Additionally, Florala’s B-team won 28-25, and Tamaris Jamison had 15 points for the Wildcats.

RLS improves to 18-9 on the season, and will host Straughn tonight for senior night.
