SHS routs Kinston

Straughn’s varsity boys and girls had the same idea when it came to how many points they were going to put on the board against Kinston on Monday night.

The boys beat the Bulldogs 74-33, and the girls walked away with a 72-29 win over the Lady Bulldogs, almost matching in total points for the night.

In B-team action, the Tigers won 49-23.

The Tigers scored 27 points in the first period, and led 42-13 at half time in the win.

Additionally, SHS shot 14 3-pointers in the game against KHS.

Avery Driver led the Tigers with 21 points; Brice Scott had 17 points; and Jasper Dowdoin chipped in 12 points.

Hobie Hughes and Griffin Windham had five rebounds each; JD Driver had eight assists; and Avery Driver added five steals.

Straughn girls 72, Kinston girls 29

Brittany Driver had 14 points; Katelyn Kinsaul had 12 points; and Jacie Williamson and Kimmie Jones had 10 points each for the Lady Tigers.

The Lady Tigers improve to 19-4 on the season.

Straughn will visit Red Level tonight in regular season action. Tip off for the B-team is at 4:30.
