Elba’s Jake Carnley hit seven 3-pointers to help lead the Tigers to a 75-58 win over Florala on Friday night at EHS.

The game was tied 17-17 at the end of the first period, and Elba shot out to a 40-30 lead at half time.

Florala kept grinding it out in the second half, only being outscored 16-13 in the third period and 19-15 in the fourth.

“My guys defensively, we played pretty well,” FHS coach Daniel Allison said. “Offensively, the shots started falling.

“With Carnley hitting those threes, we were defending him,” he said. “There was just not a lot we could do.”

Florala’s Jonathan Burleson led the Wildcats with 17 points; Colt Jackson had 14 points; John Bess had nine points; Austin McNeil had eight points; Hunter Oswald and Erik Vega had five points each for FHS.

Carnley finished with 32 points.

“They played hard all the way until the last second,” Allison said. “That’s one thing we’ve worked on all year. I was proud of our effort.”

In girls action, the Lady Wildcats fell 54-34.
