Lady Bulldogs win area title

Andalusia’s Lady Bulldogs beat Straughn 59-35 tonight to claim the Class 4A, Area 3 championship at AHS.

The Lady Bulldogs led 11-8 after the first period, and trailed 24-17 at half time.

AHS battled back in the second half, outscoring the Lady Tigers 20-5 in the third period.

Andalusia went on to outscore Straughn 22-6 in the fourth period and won its 24th straight this season with the win.

Alexis Horton led Andalusia (26-2) with 26 points, eight rebounds and seven steals. Shi’Amber Townsend chipped in 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Tyleshia Malcolm had 15 rebounds and seven blocks for the Lady Bulldogs.

Brittany Driver led Straughn (23-5) with 12 points.

Andalusia will host St. James in the sub-regional, and Straughn travels to face Brewbaker Tech next Thursday night.
