Red Level’s KJ Lawrence led the Tigers with 33 points and 11 rebounds in his team’s 59-41 win over New Brockton in the Class 2A, Area 2 semifinals at Elba High School.

“We did a better job of executing (Friday night),” RLS coach Allen Catrett said. “We finally calmed down and took care of the basketball.”

The Tigers improve to 20-10 on the season, and will face Elba at 6 p.m. on Monday in the area championship.

Red Level led 12-8 after the first period, and were up 25-13 at half time.

Troy Nolen chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers.

“Anytime you do a good job on the boards, it makes a big difference,” Catrett said. “You want to give them only one chance to make it, not multiple opportunities.”

James Feagin had six points for the Tigers.

RLS outscored the Gamecocks 15-9 in the third period.
