Kendra Leigh Richards and James Allan Wood were married in the company of family and friends at the home of George and Patricia “Sister” Barnes in Andalusia on Sat., Jan. 14, 2012.

The bride, daughter of Joyce Sanders of Troy and the late Kenneth Ferry, wore a floor length gown of white peau de soie overlaid with seed pearls, and carried a graceful hand-tied bouquet of lavender and white roses. In lieu of a veil, she wore a delicate diamond tiara.

The groom, son of Charlotte N. Wood of Troy and the late James P. Wood, waited at the foot of the grand staircase for his bride and proceeded through the foyer and down the bridal aisle outside to meet the Rev. Dave Kirby, who officiated the double ring ceremony. The couple spoke their vows under an elegant trellised arbor garlanded with magnolia and natural grapevine in the shade of an ancient oak.

After the wedding, guests followed lantern-lit garden pathways around the lovely Georgian mansion and through a rose garden arbor to the pool court. Tables draped with snowy Italian linen were topped with magnolia, fragrant white and lavender roses and stock, continuing the theme which was carried throughout the house and grounds in exquisite arrangements and garlands designed by event planner Blake Barton, with flowers by Alan Cotton, both of Andalusia. A ceramic wedding wreath inscribed by guests was presented to the couple by Adrienne Richards of Troy, daughter of the bride, and Naiden Wood of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., daughter of the groom.

Guests enjoyed hors d’oeurve and champagne, along with pomegranate martinis and monogrammed almond wedding cookies by Chrissie Schubert Duffy, niece of the groom. Double floral bouquets of white and lavender roses and stock adorned the traditional tiered French buttercream wedding cake with blackberry filling. Throughout the afternoon, guests enjoyed musical entertainment provided by The Acoustix of Panama City, Fla.

At nightfall, the newlyweds departed for a honeymoon trip to Nashville, Memphis and points west.
