MPD arrest 2nd suspect in Blackwell murder

The Montgomery Police Department confirmed Monday a second arrest in the city’s first homicide of 2012.
Ellis Diggs, 27, of Letohatchee was charged in connection with the death of Garry Blackwell, 46.
Officers located Blackwell at about 4:15 a.m. Sat., Feb. 4, at a residence in the 100 block of North Haardt Drive.
Blackwell had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Diggs turned himself to police Monday.
He was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility where he was being held on a $60,000 bond.
Another suspect, Justin McCall, 27, was already charged with murder in connection to Blackwell’s death.
A third suspect, Eric Johnson, 28, of Letohatchee is being sought for his apparent connection to the homicide. Police ask anyone with knowledge of Johnson’s whereabouts to contact MPD at 334-241-2651, Secret Witness at 334-262-4000, or CrimeStoppers at 334-215-STOP (7867).
