USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service is sponsoring a community outreach workshop for agricultural producers to explain programs that can benefit farming operations for 2012.

This workshop will be conducted by the WIREGRASS RC&D, Covington County Forestry Planning Committee and Covington County SWCD. It is set for 10 a.m. until noon on Thurs., March 1, at the USDA Service Center, 23952 Alabama Hwy. 55, Suite 1, Andalusia.

Representatives from the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Farm Service Agency (FSA), Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D), Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD), Rural Development (RD), and Alabama Forestry Commission (AFC) will be on hand to let farmers know what is available to them for 2012.

This is an opportunity for new farmers, people with limited income, and community members to learn about programs that can help you manage your pastureland, vegetable crops, woodland, and other natural resources. You can get questions answered concerning your land and community and get help in applying for programs that are available.

Current participants in the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.
