EDITH MADONNA BLACKMON

Edith Madonna Blackmon, 82, of Andalusia’s Point A, died Thurs., March 1, 2012, at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., today, Sat., March 3, at Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Hank Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Blackmon of Andalusia; sons, Terry Glenn (Patsy) Blackmon of Panama City, Fla., and David Michael (Nancy) Blackmon of Andalusia; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frances (James) Nelson of Pensacola, Fla.

CLYDE TAYLOR

Clyde Taylor, 84, of Andalusia, died Wed., Feb. 29, 2012, in the Opp hospital.

Funeral services were held on Fri., March 2, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Boles officiating, and interment following in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine K. Taylor of Andalusia; his daughters and sons-in-law, Lindal and Robert Smith of Wetumpka and Sandra and Billy Henley of Wing; his son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Tammie Taylor of Loango; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by a great grandchild, Christopher Brown.

ALRIS C. ADAMS SR.

Arlis C. Adams, Sr., 87, of Andalusia, died Tues., Feb. 28, 2012, in the Andalusia Manor nursing facility.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., today, Sat., March 3, at the Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore with the Rev. Larry Bottoms officiating.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Val and Ricky Woods of Grand Bay; his sons and daughter-in-law, Chip and Mary Adams of Andalusia and Phil Adams of Millbrook; his stepsons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Elaine Wiggins of Vestavia Hills and Tommy and Debbie Wiggins of Decatur; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Audie Mae and Charles Thomasson of Andalusia; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Adams of Warner Robbins, Ga., and Jane Ferguson of Bethel.

AARON FRANKLIN WHATLEY

Aaron Franklin Whatley, 71, of Andalusia, died Tues., Feb. 28, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., today, Sat., March 3, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with the Rev. Drexel Copeland officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be held at the church 30 minutes prior to the services.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Whatley of Andalusia; daughters, Derinda Whatley of Opp and Debbie (Dan) Goodman of Auburn;, three grandchildren, Chase Whatley, Olivia Jones and Joya Goodman; and brother, Farrell (Arlene) Whatley of Andalusia.

Pallbearers will be Dan Goodman, Paul Whatley, Chase Whatley, Keith Castleberry, Anthony Ammons and Jimmy Parker.

 

CLARA HELEN MARTIN

Clara Helen Martin, 86, of Florence, formerly of Andalusia, died Tues., Feb. 28, 2012, in a Florence Hospital.

Graveside services were held on Fri., March 2, at the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Sharpe and the Rev. Ed Ganus officiating, and Foreman Funeral Home directing the service.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Jean Martin of Florence; a step-grandson, Mat Davis of Johns Creek, Ga.; and a niece, Wanda Moore of Gantt.

The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

OTIS BLOCKER

On Feb. 15, 2012, our Lord brought home His beloved son and servant, Otis Blocker, after a valiant battle against cancer.

A proud veteran of 27 years, two wars and the recipient of military commendations and medals, the retired U.S. Navy master chief’s proudest achievement was his family. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 56 years, Mary; his children, Elizabeth, Phillip, Liana, Sean, Johnathan and Michael; his sister, Verda Cooper; many, many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Of all things in life, family was truly his greatest treasure. A value he has passed on to all those who loved and will miss him the most.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Sun., March 11, 2012, at the First Assembly of God Church in Robertsdale.
